Les Gites de Montinazeau ,
furnished accommodation and holiday cottages

The Gîtes de Montinazeau were taken over in May 2024 by Simon and Kate who have over 40 years of hospitality experience. They have a passion for entertaining guests and are proud to offer a trio of gîtes, located in a rural setting, offering peace and relaxation. The couple immediately fell in love with the pretty village of Chéniers in the Pays Dunois, Creuse region and the main house and grounds of the property are now home to themselves and their pets -  who are friendly and love fuss.  

The local area is well known as a paradise for those who love art, walking, fishing, horse riding, cycling and nature. Staying at the property, you'll be close to three beautiful lakes (with beaches, swimming and fishing) as well as numerous markets, restaurants and shops. There are also many attractions and places of interest, including the Loups de Chabières (wolf park), Husk'in Creuse (husky rides), the Circuit de Mornay (motor racing) and the Scénovision, in Bénévent l 'Abbaye, which allows you to discover the history and heritage of Creuse.

A must-see in the region is the Vallée des Peintres which has inspired many artists such as Claude Monet (three of whose paintings inspired the names of the gites) and other impressionists such as Armand Guillaumin and Francis Picabia - their works immortalized the confluence of the two rivers of the Creuse, the banks of the Sedelle and the ancient Fortress of Crozant. Hundreds of artists have set up their easels in the heart of this wild but accessible countryside on the steep paths of the valley. You can do the same or follow in the footsteps of famous artists by following the Painters' Trail - a short circular walk with signposts to honour the artists' work.

The three gîtes are comfortably furnished and freshly decorated. The ground floor is open plan with the living room leading to a well equipped kitchen diner. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - a large double and a single - and a modern shower room with WC. Each has its own terrace with garden furniture and barbecue, overlooking the beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside.

We are real animal lovers and whilst we welcome our guests to bring their pets with them, we respectfully ask you to note that a maximum of 2 small/medium sized, friendly and well socialised dogs are permitted. You will need to bring their own beds and they should be kept off the furniture. The large communal gardens offer plenty of space to exercise pets but they must be on a lead at all times and cleaned up after to ensure the comfort and safety of our other guests and our own animals.
